SPSUTeach teacher candidates will assist Tech Matters in the planning and delivery of 12 Scratch sessions to at risk math students at Marietta Middle School. FLEX Math aims to reinforce and provide additional scaffolding for those 6-8 grade students who are at risk of failing math.
Classes begin Thursday, January 16th. You need to arrive by 8:00 AM to check with at "Visitor Check-In" and set up in the classroom. Class begins at 8:19 and runs until 9:00 AM. Check the MMS FLEX 2014 Calendar for specific dates and times. If there are any changes, we will update this calendar accordingly.
Be sure to dress as you would for your teaches.
You will need to park behind the gym.
The project will use the introductory programming language Scratch to provide hands-on projects to reinforce the following math concepts:
Ratio and proportion
Positive and negative numbers
Geometric shapes
Scratch activities will be designed around these concepts allowing the students to problem solve, be creative, and collaborate.
